Hood Cleaning and Duct Cleaning Tips
We at NC Hood Cleaning in Vancouver, WA always ask our clients when was the last time they checked underneath their stove hood and exhaust fan filters? Most of the time, we receive “never” as an answer. So we know what awaits us is not going to be pretty. The general purpose of a range hood filter is collecting grease, that is when it is doing its job properly, so not only is it going to look greasy, it will feel greasy too.
Over a period of time, a filter will get so blocked with grease that it will be no longer effective, which is where our hood cleaning and duct cleaning services come in handy. However, should you live outside our area of service, then we can provide a few helpful hints to start you off.
First, you need to fill your sink with boiling water, baking soda and a quality de-greasing product, these will help you to clean your filter. You can try cleaning them in your dishwasher, too. It all depends on how much grease you are dealing with. After all, you don’t want to de-grease your dishwasher as well.
As we mentioned above, you need to fill your sink with boiling water, the hotter the better, then pour baking soda and dish soap in it. Mix this up using a brush until the water is soapy. After that, submerge your filters in the water.
Leave these to soak properly, at least 15 minutes, depending on the grease buildup. This will make it easier to scrub your filters when you take them out. Always use a non-abrasive brush, an if necessary. use more dish soap when cleaning. Once you have removed all the grease, leave your filters to completely dry out.
